The BSA brand name refuses to go quietly into the night. The name dates back to 1861 when Birmingham Small Arms Company was founded. Nearly a half-century later, BSA motorcycles were rolling down British roads. From 1961 to 1963, BSA was the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer. However, BSA was unable to compete with the Japanese onslaught in the 1960s and 1970s, merging with Norton-Villiers in 1973 and disappearing entirely in 1978.
